The 2021 Pinot Noir Ma Danseuse has deep, youthfully gregarious scents of black cherry, red berries, blood orange, forest floor and dried lavender with generous spicy undertones. The medium-bodied palate is bursting with juicy fruit, enveloped by velvety tannins, and it finishes very long, layered and spicy. You could enjoy it now for its hedonistic fruit or allow it to reveal more of its foresty, earthy character as it matures over the next 10-15 years. 1,100 cases were made. - Erin Brooks
Peter Michael Ma Danseuse Pinot Noir 2021 is the most feminine and elegant of the winery’s Pinot Noirs. Named “My Dancer” by Sir Peter Michael in honor of Lady Michael, it comes from the coolest, northernmost sections of the Seaview Estate vineyard in the Fort Ross-Seaview appellation. Planted between 1,000 and 1,500 feet elevation on steep east and northeast-facing slopes, the vineyard benefits from cooling Pacific marine air and features a mix of clay, silt, and volcanic gravels. The 2021 growing season was exceptionally mild, with harvest spanning two weeks from September 13 to 27. The wine displays vibrant aromas of rose petals, black cherry, strawberry, black raspberry, clove, graphite and vanilla. On the palate it is polished and round with impressive density, silky tannins, vibrant structure and a soft, lingering finish. A refined and classically styled Pinot Noir that beautifully showcases the elegance, purity and feminine character of the high-elevation Fort Ross-Seaview terroir.
