The 2022 Pinot Noir Casteel is youthfully shy and takes plenty of air to reveal intoxicating scents of pomegranate liqueur, blackberry jam, Earl Grey tea leaves and earth. The medium-bodied palate is concentrated and powerful! It offers generous layers of dark fruit, earth and spice, gaining purity as it airs in the glass. It's structured by fine, chalky tannins and mouthwatering acidity and has a long, floral and spice-laced finish. - Erin Brooks

Description

Bethel Heights Casteel Pinot Noir 2022 is the flagship wine from one of the pioneering estates in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. It is composed of five carefully selected blocks from Lewman Vineyard and the western slopes of Bethel Heights that form a natural north-south line across the property. This cuvée comes from grafted vines ranging from 26 to 30 years of age. The fruit was hand-sorted and destemmed into a variety of vessels, given a 4-day cold soak, then gently punched down once or twice a day during fermentation, reaching a peak temperature of 88°F before being aerated until pressed at dryness. The 2022 vintage delivers vibrant and complex aromas of black cherry, red raspberry, wild blueberry, rose petal and baking spice. On the palate it shows excellent structure, bright acidity, fine tannins and a long, mineral-driven finish. A refined and age-worthy Pinot Noir that beautifully showcases the purity and distinctive volcanic character of the Eola-Amity Hills terroir.
