91 Points James Suckling
This is a very spicy pinot with plenty of toasty-oak influence, across brambly red cherries and berries. The palate has a smooth, soft feel with plenty of soft, red-cherry and red-plum flavors and assertive oak spice.
Amisfield Pinot Noir 2018 is a classic Central Otago expression from high‑altitude vineyards near Lake Dunstan. The nose shows dark cherry, plum and blackberry with violet, wild thyme, clove and subtle oak. The palate is medium‑bodied and supple, with ripe dark‑berry fruit, bright acidity and fine, chalky tannins giving length and shape, finishing long and gently savoury. Polished and ageworthy, drinking well now with scope for further development.
