97 points The Wine Advocate

Deep purple-black in color, the 2010 Velvet Glove is scented of creme de cassis, blackberry cordial, dried plums with nuances of mocha, vanilla and chocolate. Very fine in the mouth, it has a nice, crisp acid backbone and medium levels of fine tannins to support all the big and rich fruit. It finishes long. Drink it from 2014 to 2026+. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Description

The Mollydooker Velvet Glove 2010 is a flagship Shiraz from McLaren Vale, crafted in a bold, opulent style. Made from 100% Shiraz and aged largely in new American oak, it delivers powerful concentration and polish.

It shows deep flavors of blackberry, plum, and cassis layered with mocha, spice, vanilla, and hints of licorice and earth. The palate is full-bodied and intensely rich, supported by fine tannins and balanced acidity, with a long, seamless finish. Despite its power, it’s known for a remarkably smooth, creamy mouthfeel—true to its “Velvet Glove” name—and has strong aging potential.
