96 Points Antonio Galloni

The 2023 Hudson Vineyard Syrah is a huge, powerful wine. Layers of intense dark red/purpelish fruit, sage, game, rose petal, lavender and blood orange infuse the palate. Rich and rather tightly coiled at this stage, the 2023 is a very young wine that needs time to come together. Today, it is impenetrable. This is cold-climate Syrah in a.cold vintage. Readers will have to be patient here. I have seen these wines blossom with time in bottle, and i suspect that will be the same here. - Antonio Galloni

Description

Sourced from a 2+ acre Carneros vineyard long used for Kongsgaard Syrah, this 2023 is a force of nature—savory, animal-driven and unmistakably site-expressive. Concentrated and terroir-driven, it shows ripe black cherry and blackberry with crushed violet, savory smoked‑meat and cracked black pepper. The palate is dense and polished—pure fruit balanced by bright acidity, layered baking spice, cocoa and a mineral, iron-tinged backbone. Fermented and aged ~20 months, it delivers fine-grained tannins and a long, silky finish.
