91 - 93 Points Antonio Galloni Vinous
The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Sous Le Puits ler Cru comes from a new purchase of fruit from the top of the incline close to Blagny. The cool, fresh, malic bouquet opens nicely in the glass, well-defined with a touch of wet limestone. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with good depth, fine concentration and ample weight and tension on the flinty finish. This is very promising and will need a few months on in Bottle. - Neal Martin
Puligny‑Montrachet Sous le Puits 2022 from Etienne Sauzet is a standout village‑level cuvée, often cited as one of the best value wines in the range. In 2022, winemaker Benoît Riffault began harvesting on August 24 to capture freshness, with a gentle, classical vinification and modest new oak (around 15–25% for the upper cuvées). Sous le Puits shows lifted aromas of citrus, pear and white flowers with hints of hazelnut and delicate oak spice. The palate is medium‑bodied and finely structured, with clean, vibrant acidity, a tense, chalky mineral backbone and a long, precise finish. A refined, terroir‑driven Puligny that drinks well young but will gain in complexity with a few years in bottle.
