Refined and filled with fresh acidity that backs concentrated mineral, red cherry and plum flavors. Underbrush accents in the midpalate, with the finish offering a light savoriness. - Tim Marcus
Hyde de Villaine Ygnacia Pinot Noir 2018 is a single-vineyard wine sourced from a specially selected block within the renowned Hyde Vineyard in the Carneros AVA. Planted exclusively for Hyde de Villaine, this cuvée is a blend of seven heritage Pinot Noir clones carefully collected by Larry Hyde over four decades, showcasing his lifelong pursuit of the finest Pinot Noir in California. Made with minimal whole clusters and limited new oak, the wine is aged 15 months in French oak barrels. The 2018 vintage displays elegant and complex aromas of black cherry, red plum, dried raspberry, violet, lavender, rose petal and subtle spice with earthy undertones. On the palate it offers medium to full body, bright acidity, firm yet silky tannins, stony minerality and excellent length. A refined and expressive Pinot Noir that beautifully showcases the energy, concentration and distinctive cool-climate character of the Hyde Vineyard terroir in Carneros.
