The 2022 Zinfandel Juvenile is a remarkably expressive and over-performing iteration of this wine, composed of young vines from nearly three dozen sites across California. The nose combines sweet red fruits, roasted plums and leather with autumnal, spice-driven accents. The palate is medium-bodied with detailed layers of easygoing, succulent fruits. The finish is welcomely dustier and more structured than the nose and palate would suggest and concludes with a bright spine of quenching acidity. - Erin Brooks
Description
Turley Juvenile Zinfandel 2022 is a vibrant California blend composed of younger vines ranging from 6 to 25 years old that have been replanted within several of Turley’s best historic old-vine sites. Sourced from 27 different vineyards across 11 counties, this cuvée captures the energy and exuberance of these “juvenile” vines while benefiting from the quality and terroir of the estate’s top vineyards. Fermented with native yeasts and aged 12 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels (95% used, 5% new), the 2022 vintage is bright, juicy and expressive with generous aromas of black cherry, raspberry, briar patch, wild berries and savory pepper. On the palate it shows soft tannins, vibrant acidity, classic Zinfandel spice and a delightfully refreshing finish. A fun, well-balanced and highly drinkable Zinfandel that beautifully showcases the youthful energy and quality of Turley’s younger vines.
