Les Vieux Clos 2023 is Nicolas Joly’s biodynamic Chenin Blanc from Savennières, grown on schist and sandstone around the Coulée de Serrant estate. The wine opens with aromas of quince, pear and apple, lightly honeyed and waxy, with hints of chamomile, hay and struck stone. On the palate it is dry, structured and textural, with layered orchard and yellow fruit supported by vibrant acidity and a firm, slate‑like mineral backbone, finishing long and slightly savoury. Expressive yet built to age, it’s a distinctive, terroir‑driven Loire white that will gain complexity over the next decade.
